Doing Business & Investing in Korea
Thursday, May 26th, 2016, 11 am – 1 pm
Gowling WLG, 100 Kings St. W. #1600, Toronto, Ontario
This special seminar will provide Canadian executives the opportunity to meet visiting Korean government officials and learn directly about new investment opportunities. Participants will learn about Korea’s unique Saemangeum development project, which gives access not only to Korea’s sophisticated 50 million consumer market, but also to China’s 1.3 billion consumer market from its prime location on the edge of the Yellow Sea. Korea is also a home to global conglomerates like Hyundai, Samsung, LG, Kia, KEPCO, Doosan, Kolon, Hanwha, Korea Aerospace Industry, SK, Korean Air and POSCO. Korea now has free trade agreements with Canada and China.
Korea is a huge market for Canadian companies and Saemangeum is determined to attract Canadian companies in aerospace, defence, automotive, specialty chemicals and clean technologies.
11 am – Introduction to the Saemangeum Development Project & Investing in Korea
Presented by: Byeongkuk Jeon, Vice Administrator, Korea Agency for Saemangeum Development & Investment
12 noon – Lunch & Networking
Price: Free for qualified and invited companies
Why should you attend?
- Discover the benefits of expanding your business in Samangeum, Korea
- Learn what and how Saemangeum can assist with your expansion in Korea: government relations, aerospace/defence/automotive industry relations and incentives
- Develop personal connections with government officials with strong networks and influence
Saemangeum is a national Korean project to build a global city on reclaimed land on the west coast of Korea, directly across from China. A broad range of investment incentives has been developed to encourage businesses to take advantage of the opportunity to gain a foothold in Korea and the economically dynamic APAC region. The land has been reclaimed following the construction of the world’s longest sea-dyke, which was completed in 2006 and work to build the new industrial complex has begun.

**Imjin Hockey Classic 2015 Invitation**
Can you imagine playing hockey during war time?
Our brave Canadian soldiers played hockey on the frozen ‘Imjin’ River whenever they were given time away from their front-line duties.
Now, more than six decades later, we are pleased to hold a re-enactment of these historic hockey matches! The event will take place at the Canadian Tire Centre in Ottawa.
Two Regiments, PPCLI and R22eR, will go head-to-head with each other – just as they would have done during the Korean War!
If you love hockey and have a passion for cheering on our Canadian military hockey teams, we invite you to join us at the game! Admission is free!!!
We welcome you to come out with your family and friends for this meaningful event. Not only is it a great opportunity to honour our Korean War veterans, but it’s also a wonderful experience for our young Canadians to have fun while learning about the importance of Canadian’s contribution to the Korean War.
